For the love of paisley

13/8/2015

I think paisley is a little like tartan. It is famous for its history and aesthetically for its balance and colour harmony. It can take a lot of colour but in an ordered way and this is why it is such an abidingly beautiful fabric. It is also a wonderfully unisex design.

de Le Cuona is lauded for the sublime textures of its unique interior textiles. The finishes and fall of the fabric sets this company apart and the same can be said of its signature hand-woven paisley. Made in the same age-old manner that has been used for centuries the paisleys are woven on very old looms in Kashmir (weaving just three metres a day) and washed by hand to achieve the soft drape and subtle shades.

‘To perfect our paisley for modern tastes we have recoloured the designs as the traditional palette is very strong. Our latest paisleys - Anastasia and Isabella have unexpected combinations that make this classic much more contemporary.’

Anastasia: Tigers Eye, Jade & Amber Marine
Isabella: Sapphire, Marble & Amethyst

Combine these fine paisleys with gusty linen, silk velvet and a whisper of cashmere and you begin to understand the magic of de Le Cuona and how Bernie creates layers of luxury at its most relaxed.
