THE BEST POP-UP IN TOWN!

Pentreath & Hall has the best pop-up in town. Yes, we all know that Pentreath & Hall is one of the most unusual and exciting shops in London. This tiny, tastefully jam-packed shop on Rugby Street is tucked away in a quiet street of beautiful early Georgian houses in one of the loveliest hidden corners of London.

If you read the about us bit you’ll see that Ben Pentreath and Bridie Hall came to shop-keeping unexpectedly. ‘Ben is an architectural and interior designer. Bridie is a decorative artist and maker. Both are creating a new British tradition that respects the past but is never dull, and both bring a powerful creative dynamic to the shop that they have run together since 2008.’

Bridie Hall sells her own handmade in London designs at the shop and over the Summer she has a special selling showcase of her collections until the end of August, at the  pop-up next door.

For the first two weeks of September House & Garden take over, followed by Fine Cell Work from 12-25th September. Fine Cell Work’s worthy stitched wares include a second collection of cushions created by Pentreath & Hall for Fine Cell Work.

This charity and social enterprise was founded by Lady Anne Tree in 1997 with the aim to enable prisoners to develop new skills, earn and save some money and to acquire the self-belief to stop offending.  The work produced in prison includes stitching needlepoint and embroidered cushions, bags, wall hangings and patchwork quilts. The prisoners’ work is sold around the world. Some are interior design collaborations and commissions, others heritage pieces for the likes of the V&A, English Heritage and the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince of Wales.

Next up is Balineum a cool chic bathroom accessories company that presents its vibrant new Series S collection of hand-painted tiles in a colourful Capri inspired pop up for a two-week period from Tuesday 27 September to Saturday 8 October.

From the ports of Amalfi to the villages of Portugal, artisan-painted tiles capture the essence of the Mediterranean. Balineum celebrates the heritage of these seaports with Series S ceramic tiles, hand painted in Italy. Expect a sophisticated kaleidoscope of colour and timeless Capri-style food and drink at this popular pop-up destination for those seeking beautiful and decorative designs for interiors.

Founder Sarah Watson has curated a collection of over 90 unique designs that range from traditional florals to modern graphic and geometric patterns. Other products on show include new lighting, mirrors and British made washstands.

There are more great pop-ups in store including Ben’s sister-in-law, Laura Pentreath, who shows her stunning bronze sculptures in an exhibition called Sarah Sclater Art featuring Sculptures by Laura Pentreath running from 3-30 November.  Sarah Sclater Art brings some of Dorset and the west country’s finest artists to the pop-up and Laura Pentreath is a perfect example of Dorset’s hidden talent now given free rein at this small yet inspired space.
